2026-27 (WIP)
CavUnity has five initiatives for the upcoming 2026- 2027 operational year. We will work on these initiatives throughout the year:
1. Care - Through our continued support for the IWK Health Centre and IWK Foundation, we remain dedicated to showing up for the children, youth, and families who rely on the IWK's world-class care. From fundraising to awareness building, this initiative reflects the compassion and heart that define CavUnity. By supporting patients and their families during some of life's most challenging moments, we demonstrate the power of community, kindness, and collective action.
2. Animals - The Animals Initiative is dedicated to promoting the health, safety, and well-being of animals in our communities through volunteerism, education, and community partnerships. This initiative supports local animal shelters, rescue organizations, and wildlife conservation efforts while encouraging responsible pet ownership and raising awareness about animal welfare issues. Through activities such as donation drives, fundraising events, awareness campaigns, and community projects, members are empowered to show compassion and make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals, helping to build kinder and more caring communities for both animals and people.
3. Recreation - Every youth deserves the opportunity to play, connect, and grow in safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments. Through free and accessible recreational opportunities, community events, and youth engagements activities, CavUnity encourages physical activity, social connection, and personal development. Recreation plays a vital role in fostering belonging, confidence, and joy, helping young people build lasting friendships and stronger communities.
4. Community Support & Basic Needs - Strong communities are built when everyone has access to the essentials they need to thrive. Through partnerships with food banks, community fridges, shelters, and local organizations, CavUnity works to address food insecurity, poverty, and other barriers facing individuals and families. This initiative reflects our commitment to dignity, compassion, and community care, ensuring support reaches those who need it most while inspiring youth to become active contributors to positive change.
5. Environment & Sustainability - As environmental challenges continue to impact communities across Nova Scotia, Canada, and around the world, CavUnity is committed to empowering youth to become leaders in sustainability. Through community cleanups, environmental education, other initiatives, and partnerships with environmental organizations, we aim to protect and enhance the places we call home. This initiative encourages practical action, environmental stewardship, and a shared responsibility for creating a healthier and more sustainable future.
